Ross Ulbricht was sentenced to 2 life sentences + 40 years for building the website "Silk Road." This was the first public marketplace for Bitcoin and directly led to establishing it as a worldwide currency. The Silk Road was used by thousands of people to buy and sell many types of goods and services, including illegal goods like drugs. Ross has no illusions that the Silk Road didn't break the existing laws, but his sentence was far and beyond what even the prosecution in his case asked for. He was vilified in the media, lied about, and painted as a drug kingpin, which resulted in public condemnation, making a fair trial impossible. He was singled out to take the fall for the entire operation, when there were a great many people involved in operating the site. The average sentence in the Silk Road case was 6 years, and most of the defendants are now free, yet Ross continues to sit in prison, having paid for his crime many times over after 11 years of incarceration. He was a first time, non-violent offender, and was given a cruel and unusual punishment. He deserves to be free. President Trump has promised to commute his sentence on his first day in office. I wrote this song last year after receiving a deep spiritual conviction to fight for his freedom. I hope you all enjoy the song and the music video.

A song about freedom that's full of questions.
Schaeffer Cox is a former political prisoner and libertarian who survived the weaponization of the American Justice System. I was proud to have been part of the effort to free him from bondage.
